How to make a blurry picture clear
A slightly soft or low-resolution photo can be sharpened up a good deal, and you do not need Photoshop or a paid site to do it. Here is how to make a picture clearer in one click, plus an honest note on what is and is not fixable.
Pictures come out blurry for a few reasons, and they split into two groups. Either the camera missed focus, your hand moved or the light was low, in which case the detail never reached the sensor. Or the image was saved small, compressed hard and then blown up, in which case the detail was captured and then thrown away by the file format. What it can fix, and what it can't
We tested this rather than guessing at it. These improve well, far more than simply resizing them would:

These do not come back, and the measured gain was near zero: a badly out-of-focus shot, heavy motion blur, and scanned film. On film the enhancer actually smooths the grain away instead of helping, because it reads that texture as noise.
