How do I upscale an image with AI?

How do I make an image higher resolution?
Upscale it: 2x turns a 1000 × 750 photo into 2000 × 1500 pixels, 4x into 4000 × 3000. Plain resizing just stretches pixels; the AI upscaler adds sharp edges and detail, so the bigger photo stays clean.
2x or 4x: which should I choose?
2x for most photos: it is faster and looks natural. 4x for very small images such as thumbnails, avatars or old web pictures under 600 pixels.
Is there a size limit?
Photos up to 4 megapixels (about 2300 × 1700). That is exactly where small images need upscaling; a photo bigger than that is already high resolution.
